Nyepi Day

Nyepi Day

Nyepi or the Day of Silence, is the start of the Balinese Caka year and is a religious celebration like no other. Hindu Bali has its very own unique take on this and even in the predominantly Hindu Indian sub-continent, there is nothing quite like it. The whole island will be void of people on the streets. It is mandatory for everyone to stay indoors or within the hotel premises and there shall be :

  • No noise
  • No lights
  • No activities whatsoever
  • No entertainment

The whole island of Bali shall appear deserted and therefore it is believed that the evil spirits will pass over the island. We seek your cooperation in observing the following mandatory rules issued by the Religious Department of Bali during the celebration of Hari Raya Nyepi.

Hotels and Hospital are exempt from Nyepi's rigorous practices but streets outside will be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles (except for airport shuttles or emergency vehicles) and village guards (Pecalang) will be posted to keep people off the beach and on streets and bussiness complex area
